Student Veterans Organization

The SVO is more than an advocacy group—it’s a community of support designed to give veterans their own version of the collegiate experience.

At Northeastern University, the Student Veterans Organization (SVO) is a dynamic, student-led community dedicated to empowering veterans and military-affiliated students. Our mission is to unite the veteran community, advocate for their needs, and support them in achieving academic, social, and professional success.

Through shared experiences, peer connections, and engaging activities, we foster a sense of belonging that helps our members thrive in their academic journey and beyond.

Run by student veterans, the SVO offers:

  • Transition Support Guidance for veterans adjusting to academic and civilian life.
  • Dedicated SpaceThe veterans lounge is a centrally located space on the Boston campus where students can study, relax, gather, or store/reheat meals throughout the day.
  • Career DevelopmentOpportunities to network, attend workshops, and prepare for post-graduation success.
  • Social ActivitiesEvents and gatherings that create meaningful connections and build camaraderie within the veteran community.
  • Community BuildingA safe and supportive network that values the unique experiences of veterans and their families.

The SVO

Named Chapter of the Year in 2013 by the Student Veterans of America, the SVO provides a welcoming environment where veterans can share stories, connect with peers, and create lasting memories. Whether it’s through social events, professional development, or just a sense of belonging, we strive to ensure that every member has the opportunity to make the most of their time at Northeastern University.
