Tuition Assistance Top up
Servicemembers with eligibility under the Post 9/11 or Montgomery GI Bill can use those benefits to help pay for the cost of your courses not covered in full by Federal Tuition Assistance.
- MGIB Top up: The VA will pay you the difference between the total cost of the course and what TA pays.
- Post 9/11 Top up: The VA will pay Northeastern the difference between the cost of the course and the TA payment.
How to use Tuition Assistance at Northeastern:
- Register for courses.
- Apply for TA before your classes start. Follow the links above, and contact your base Education Service Officer (ESO) prior to enrolling in courses at Northeastern. Your ESO can guide you through the TA application process, verify that you are eligible, and help you obtain required documentation.
- Submit a Request for Benefit Certification Form (RVAB) through the StudentHub. Navy and USMC students will also need to submit a copy of the approved TA form to the Dolce Center for the Advancement of Veterans and Servicemembers at [email protected].
- TA Match is automatically awarded if you are enrolled in an eligible program
Unearned TA Return Policy:
Northeastern University will return any unearned TA funds on a prorated basis through at least the 60% portion of the period for which the funds were provided. The funds are returned to the military service branch when the student stops attending courses. Tuition credits are granted based on the date of the official withdrawal processed by the registrar’s office. Nonattendance does not constitute official withdrawal. Credit policies vary according to the duration of the course. The first week of class is the week containing the “classes begin” date listed in the academic calendar. Timeframes, refund percentages, and more information can be found on the Student Financial Services website.
Any student that is required to stop attending classes due to military service obligations will work with the Dolce Center for the Advancement of Veterans and Servicemembers to identify solutions that will not result in a debt for the returned portion.
