GI Bill Benefits

  • The Post 9/11 GI Bill (Ch. 33)

If you served 36 months** on active duty you could be entitled to funding for:

Tuition and fees

  • Up to $28,937.09 for tuition and fees (this amount is set annually by the VA)
  • Students at the 100% level are automatically enrolled in the Yellow Ribbon Program (link) which covers any additional tuition and fee charges to go beyond the annual amount set by the VA.

Books & Supplies

  • Up to $1,000.00/ year paid out at $41.67 per credit.

Monthly Housing Allowance

  • Rates vary by campus and full time status

  • Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (CH. 30)

  • Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (CH 1606)

Tuition Assistance

  • Federal Tuition Assistance
  • Up to $250.00 per semester hour or $166.67 per quarter hour each term
  • Up to $4,500.00 available each fiscal year
  • *TA Match is not available to those receiving the reduced Military Tuition Rate

  • Tuition Assistance Top up
  • MGIB Top up: The VA will pay you the difference between the total cost of the course and what TA pays.
  • Post 9/11 Top up: The VA will pay Northeastern the difference between the cost of the course and the TA payment.

Newly Admitted students that are called to service before their intended start date may be eligible for a deferment.

Interruption of studies due to Military Service


When a US servicemember receives military orders to enter a period of covered service, the servicemember may withdraw with no tuition penalty or take a leave of absence. Please contact Dolce CAVS at [email protected] to discuss your options.
